Week 2

PREPARATION

Our second week began with shopping trips. Sari and Pilvi shopped in Itäkeskus for Lohikeitto (salmon soup) ingredients. Whilst Amal and Pranuthi shopped in Hakaniemi for Dodo (fried plantain) ingredients.

  MAIN MEAL BY PILVI
 LOHIKEITTO (SALMON SOUP)

Lohikeitto is a traditional Finnish soup made with onions, potatoes, cream, dill, salmon, fish stock, bay leaves and whole peppercorns. Best enjoyed with freshly baked rye bread.

With the extra salmon Sari made a surprise dish of thinly sliced salmon (with salt, olive oil, lemon juice and pepper).
This version of Lohikeitto was made by Pilvi's grandmother. Pilvi remembers visiting her at a summer cottage and enjoying her traditional Finnish home cooked meals.

A DESSERT NAMED DODO BY PRANUTHI

Dodo is a very typical Nigerian recipe. It can be a starter, side dish or a dessert. Pranuthi first tried Dodo in October 2011 and now shared it with us.
